Kenya is a country in East Africa bordering the Indian Ocean coast line. It’s rich in sceneries including, savannahs, Lakelands, the dramatic Great Rift Valley and mountain highlands; a home of great variety of wildlife including the big five, and very hospitable people. Nairobi, where the conference will be hosted, boasts of a national park in the capital city.

This conference facility is 23 minutes from Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) and approximately 12.3 kilometers via Thika Super Highway/A2.


The conference organizers are in no way responsible for any accommodation arrangements. However, for the convenience of delegates, a list of available places of accommodation has been generated where delegates can find reliable accommodation at considerable rates. There are many other places where  accommodation is available within the Central Business District.

At the conference venue, accommodation is also available. The conference organizers have negotiated for subsidized rates for guests who may wish to be accommodated at the conference venue.

Located in Thika road, the Garden city mall is currently Kenya’s second largest mall after two-river mall. Located right along Thika road a few yards from the Luke Hotel, Mountain view Mall is a great place to do business, entertainment and have some fun too during weekends. Business facilities include; salons, topnotch barbers, finance institutions, music school and more.

Thika Road Mall

Located off Exit 8 on the Thika Highway, opposite the Kasarani Sports Complex. It is open daily from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. It is among one of the largest shopping malls in E. Africa and you can be able to shop, eat, and do banking.

Kenya School of monetary studies and all the Hotels Along Thika Road can be accessed from the airport through two alternate routes, through the Eastern Bypass  (JKIA-Eastern Bypass-Thika Road- Preferred Accommodation Hotel/Facility) or  (JKIA-Nairobi  City-Thika Road)/

During rush hours (Early Morning 6.00am-11.00 AM) and in the evening (5.00PM-7.00PM), the bypass route is preferable due to traffic.

KANCO can organize pick up taxi at a subsided rate on request, however other options like Uber, Taxify and Little Cab are available.

 Visa/ Visa Requirements

Nationals of the following countries do not need visas to travel to Kenya:

Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Brunei-Darussalam, Burundi, Cyprus, Dominica, Fiji, Ghana, Grenada, Jamaica, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Namibia, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Samoa, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, St Lucia, St Vincent & The Grenadines, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, Uruguay, Vanuatu, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Citizens of the following countries need to have a visa prior to arrival in Kenya:

Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cameroon, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Senegal, Somali, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan and Yemen

If your country is not listed above, visas can be obtained at the Airport (or any entry point) upon arrival for US$50 single entry or US$100 for multi entry.

It is advisable to obtain the visa from a Kenyan Embassy/High Commission in you country prior to departure. Where applicable, visa fees are as follows: – Transit Visa = US$20 per person; Reference Fee: US$10; Single Entry Visa= US$50 for three months (can be extended for a similar period) Multiple Journey Visa= US$100.

Also available is the East Africa tourist visa for US$100, valid for 90 days that will give you entry to Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.

Kenya introduced an e-Visa system from 2 July 2015. According to the government an application should be done at least 7 days in advance and visitors can stay for up to 90 days with e-visa

Visa on arrival is still available and visitors can stay for up to 90 days with this visa


Kenya and specifically Nairobi and its environs is generally a safe environment, however caution should be taken when travelling in the late hours.
